My story

Hi, I’m Rita—a 3-year-old Husky mix with a calm heart and a love for sunny spots and squeaky toys. I am a looker, I have a brown eye and a blue eye. My life started out rough—my owner left me behind by a lake when they moved away. But a kind man found me, brought me into his home, and now I’m on a journey to find a family who’ll never let me go. Despite everything, I’m a gentle, sweet girl who just wants to love and be loved. I’m housebroken and doing really well with crate training—I sleep through the night without a peep and even go in on my own for naps during the day. I love other dogs! I play great with my foster siblings—a Vizsla, a Lab, and even the tiny Yorkie and Maltipoo in the house. Tug of war is my jam, and I adore being chased just as much as I love chasing others. I even came with a best friend when I was found, and we were pretty bonded. So if you have other dogs, I’d fit right in. But I could also thrive in a home where I’m your center of attention. I haven’t been around cats, and I do get excited by squirrels and birds, so a slow introduction would be best if you have a feline friend. As for kids, I’ve been around older ones and did just fine! I haven’t gone on many walks yet, but when I was leash tested, I did really well—though I might pull a bit if I see something fun to chase. I enjoy my backyard time and haven’t tried to escape, even though the fence is only 4 feet. I just love to lay in the sun and watch the world go by—it’s one of my favorite things. At my core, I’m a cuddle bug with a playful side. My stuffed duck is my prized possession—I carry it everywhere like it’s my little sidekick. If you're looking for a loyal, loving girl who’s just as happy snuggling on the couch as she is romping in the yard, I might be the one for you. I’m ready for my forever home—could it be with you?
