Oh my heck, is Meeklo one of those dogs you don't come across often. He very quickly became a staff favorite because of how perfect he is. There are SO many great things that we can say about him. Naturally, he already has a few nicknames that we've given him: Meeky Cheeky, Meeky, Meeks, Meeky boy, Meme, and so much more. Meeklo is a big ole goofy goober that is always so happy. No matter what is going on around him, he is always so happy and up for anything you throw at him. Instantly when you meet him you catch yourself saying, "man that is a really cool dog," and it's true! The obsession with Meeklo is almost immediate and it's pretty much become a recurring theme with everyone that meets him. He is a Toal lover boy with people and with dogs, he is a happy medium of playful and snuggly, and let's not forget to mention he's incredibly good looking as well. So go ahead and get prepared for your camera roll to be taken over by Meeklo and buy some more storage space on your phone because you're going to need it. Watch his video and get ready to immediately start obsessing over this handsome hunk: https://youtu.be/JlaNpAkiHVw?si=MIi1tRoz0Tf_Y1Wv Meeklo is a pittie mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 56 lbs. He's one of those dogs that has the perfect amount of chunk and muscle. Just enough chunk for those irresistible squish moments and just the right amount of muscle to keep up with an adventurous lifestyle. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Meeky boy is a social butterfly that loves people and loves adventures. He's the perfect companion to take with you on hikes, trips to the beach, or even if you're wanting a dog to take with you to meet up with friends at your local brewery or park, he'll be a great boy to have around. We can also see him being a friendly co-host if you're someone that likes to have friends and family over for bbq cookouts in the back yard. Meeklo is also a boy that appreciates down time as well. He can be a super social guy but does enjoy quiet time too. Almost like he needs time to recharge his batteries after a long day of being a social butterfly all day. The best way to compare it would be if you've been running around all day, attending birthday parities, or events and you've been surrounded by people all day and can't wait to get home to relax and recharge your social battery. Meeklo is the same way. He really is one of those dogs that can do both. So if you're looking for a fun social butterfly and also a cuddle buddy at the end of the day, Meeky is your guy! Meeklo is such a family dog and great around kids. He has been around kids ages 4 and 13 and he is awesome around both ages! This is verbatim exactly what Kobe (the 4 year old) has said about Meeklo: "He needs to find his family ASAP before I takes him home. He would be good to be in a house with kids. He is smart and I train him very easily. If I can train him, anyone can train him. I like playing toys with him and laying on him." Please excuse the grammar LOL but these are the words directly from a 4 year old and they are all true! Even our Director of Behavior and Intake said that she had zero reservations with Meeklo being around her son and also her 13 year old daughter. Even with her, he was so loving, happy, and immediately was giving her all the kisses and leaning into her for affection. Meeklo wasn't phased with Kobe running around, jumping on the couch, yelling, taking his plushy toys, laying basically right on top of him, and laid down right next to him on the couch. He is so great around kids and can handle the hustle and bustle of a busy house hold. If you have kids and are looking for an affectionate buddy and playmate for your kids Meeklo is the one for you! Meeklo is such a phenomenal dog and he is very dog friendly! So much so that we actually use him for most if not all of our behavioral assessments for new dogs coming into our program. We have seen him with so many different types of dogs that we can’t even list them all. His tolerance is out of this world and there has not been one dog to dog interaction that he has not passed with flying colors. Meeky loves to play with his buddies but also is respectful of the dogs that don’t want to play with him. He does try to encourage play at first and as soon as he realizes the other dogs aren’t interested in playing he’s off trying to find a new play mate or he's doing his own thing and exploring all the smells. When he is done playing or is ready for those calmer hangout moments he will tell the other dogs by giving them a subtle correction or he will simply just remove himself from the play. He is the perfect mix of playful and calm, a happy medium. Like mentioned above, he's a social extroverted butterfly but also likes to recharge and have calm relaxing time as well and the same can be said about his interactions with other dogs. In a home, he would be best placed with another dog that can do both, play and also chill. Meeklo also isn't the type of dog that needs another dog in the home to help him feel comfortable or to satisfy his energy needs. He is a confident happy guy by nature and he knows how to match to whatever you need them to be. When it comes to kitties, Meeklo would be best placed in a home without a kitty friend hanging around. I know, he already sounds perfect and that's because he is, but wait there's more! Meeklo is a smart pants too, loves treats, and is eager to please. He already knows how to sit, shake, comes when he is called, responds well to corrections from his handlers, and is fairly easy to walk on a leash. He also has shown that he has all the skills to learn how to roll over and has even done it a few times. He does pull initially out of excitement because he loves to go on walks but a simple leash correction is all it takes to remind this hunk that he needs to walk like a gentleman on leash. Meeklo is also crate trained, potty trained, and has shown to have great house manners as well. Meeko's eagerness to please and willingness to learn means that any additional training you want to do with him will be a breeze and enjoyable for you both. One thing that we've also noticed about him is that he is always quiet in his crate. The only time he makes a peep is if the other dogs around him are hyped up about something or if his buddy next to him is being taken out. He just wants to be apart of what you're doing and doesn't want to miss out. But other than that, he's a quiet guy. He also hasn't even barked at the garbage truck when it comes by. He'll stand there and watch it and then when it starts driving down the road, he likes to follow along and trot down the side of the fence line. Meeklo loves to be outside, exploring all the smells, zooming around, and sunbathing in the sun. We believe he would be his happiest self in a home that has a backyard where he can do all of this favorite things. One being playing with toys. He loves to play with toys especially the plushy toys with the squeakers and will bring them back to you as well. We are willing to test Meeklo with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
