The first thing that came to my mind when I first met Freya, was how gentle, sweet and loving she is! It was one of those interactions where I immediately knew she is one of "soul" type dogs. She has this overwhelming calming presence about her and gentleness about her that is hard to describe. We actually had someone say that being around Freya is like having your own personal therapy session and has this ability to bring you back to down a "zen" state. Besides her overwhelming calming presence about her, everything about Freya is easy peasy. From walking on leash, to taking treats, to meeting dogs, literally everything. She is the companion dog of your dreams. Watch her video and you'll see exactly what we are talking about: https://youtu.be/ewyQUcnzNpw?si=VYkI_qGR8tvgtM8e Freya is believed to be a German shepherd/Aussie mix approximately 6 years old and currently weighs 52 lbs and is full grown! She is honestly not very big at all. She's like a mini shepherd in my opinion. She's not too big and not too small, she is just the right size. Freya is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Freya is very dog friendly and has been around so many different types of dogs and has done beautifully with every single one. She has been around shy dogs, dogs that are rude and pushy, dogs that rough housing around her, and dogs that are calm like her and she does great. Freya is not a playful lady with other dogs. She gives off more of the laid back chill hangout type of vibes. So when she is around dogs that are all about play, have a more rowdy play style that try to play with her, she will give a very subtle "hey, I'm not the playful type" kind of boundary correction to those dogs and she goes on about her business. Which is for the most part, hanging out in the yard and enjoying the fresh air. She doesn't mind if dogs are playing around her having a good time, she is just the type that isn't interested in playing. We have seen Freya play a handful of times with the right dog when she's feeling a little playful and has a very cute, bouncy, gentle play style. When she does play, she prefers it to be short and sweet, just enough to have a good time and then she's off doing her own thing again. If you have a dog that is chill, likes to hang out, enjoys the company of other dogs, and likes the very occasional play, then Freya is your girl. She has no problem being the only dog in your life either and being the center of your world. She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is very calm and relaxed already and would be perfectly fine being your one and only. Freya has also spent a lot of time with our house cat biggie and she did great with him! Biggie was running around, playing with his cat toys, causing a ruckus chasing after a fly, jumping up on the window seals and walking on them like it was a balance beam, and Freya did not react or really seem interested in anything that biggie was doing. Even after Biggie was acting all wild and came back up to Freya on her level, Freya was still unphased by him. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home with a cat before and things can always change once in the home, but we do believe that with slow and proper introductions, Freya has the potential to live harmoniously with a kitty in the home. Freya can be a little shy at first when meeting new people and but trust me when I say it does not take long for her to turn into your little shadow and lover girl. One of the ways to her heart is through treats. The second you give her a treat, it's game over and her heart has been captured. I want to mention that calming presence about her again because I wanted a dog to spend my lunch break with that would be calm, relaxed, and provide a peacefulness after a crazy busy first start of the day. Freya was the first dog that came to my mind and we had the best lunch together. She behaved the the exact way I expected her to and also was a perfect lunch companion. Freya was calm, laid down beside my feet, only looking up ever so often, never begged for any food, and would occasionally nuzzle my leg for affection. I'm not going to lie, I did give in and gave her a french fry or too and even then after getting a few French fries, she still never begged and was so good and relaxed. She would be a great dog to have around if you work from home, a great porch sitting companion, will sit next to you while you read your favorite book, and even a supportive friend for when you're having a bad day. Freya is a smart gal too and is ready to show off all her tricks! If you watched her video, then you already know she can sit, shakes, comes when she is called, walks perfectly on a leash, and even knows how to "dance" and sit pretty." She is very eager to please and I'm sure you can teach her to do so much more if you wanted to. Freya is also crate trained, potty trained, has great house manners, and from what we have seen, a very quiet girl. Freya is kid friendly and has been around kids ages 4 and 13. She lovvveeeeddd being around the 13 year old. Freya loved the fact that Sophia shared her string cheese with her and really appreciated how calm and gentle Sophia was with her as well. She would thrive in a calmer home within a residential neighborhood that has a backyard with a family that enjoys going on leisurely walks throughout the neighborhood followed by a relaxing evening at home. We are willing to test Freya with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
