My story

Available by Appointment Only! Ash is an 8-month-old gentle giant with his humans, a true lover boy with a heart that’s even bigger than his paws. Underneath his initial cautiousness is a dog full of pure, unwavering love — he just needs the right people to help him feel safe enough to share it. He can be quite protective over his humans, which is why we are suggesting that he go to a home without children or other animals. Ash isn't a brewery or social scene dog; he’s a human shadow, happiest following his person around, seeking quiet companionship and deep connection. His dream is a peaceful home where he can explore the outdoors and then snuggle up with his people inside.  He will need to be leashed outside until properly trained with recall and training tools. We have been working with an e-collar, treat training, positive reinforcement, and redirection. I would highly encourage continued formal training for him so he can thrive. We are working on crate training, but he truly desires to be with his human and not left alone. While he is not destructive in his crate, he will whine in the beginning of his time in there until he settles in.  To walk successfully on trails, it would be ideal for him to go on low volume trails, with minimal exposure to other dogs, especially off leash dogs. Ash should not be approached by off leash dogs while on leash, and a slow introduction will be a necessity for Ash with other dogs. Again, formal training is highly recommended to help him learn how to feel safe in this world and understand a common language with his adopters.  Ash’s giant heart shines brightest when he’s with humans who are patient, loving, and attuned to his needs. He would thrive in a home without children or other animals, with people who can offer him consistent love, patience, and continued training. In return, Ash will give you a level of devotion and loyalty that only a truly special dog can give. Because busy adoption events are overwhelming for Ash and he can't show his true loving self, he is available by appointment only. If you're ready to open your heart to a boy who will give you all of his , Ash is waiting to meet you. Please reach out to rmprcontact@gmail.com to set up an appointment once completing the application form! If poor please explain: Leash reactive, anxious and overwhelmed when around dogs, children & strangers approaching too closely without a proper introduction  ##2358680##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt ASH, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
