My story

Meet Bunsen!This adorable little Shih Tzu is about 9 years old and weighs just 9 pounds. He’s not a koala🐨, he just has the biggest eyes you’ll ever see! Bunsen came to us in rough shape after being found as a stray, but after a good grooming and a month of love in his foster home, he’s ready to find his forever family.Bunsen is the definition of a cuddly companion. He lives for butt scratches, tummy rubs, and cozy snuggles. Though he’s hard of hearing and has limited vision, he gets around just fine and is full of love to give. He’s gentle with cats, great with other dogs, and does well with kind, respectful kids.He’s mostly house trained with the help of a belly band and will even let you know when he needs to go outside. With a consistent schedule and a little patience, we think he could eventually leave the belly band behind altogether.Bunsen is a bit of a picky eater, so he’ll need someone who’s willing to be understanding and flexible at mealtime. But for the right person, this little guy will be an incredibly sweet and loyal companion.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as "Out of Town" pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it.
