My story

Hi there, I’m Poppy, a 4-year-old hound mix with a heart as big as my 78-pound body and a smile that just won’t quit. My coat is a striking black and white, and I’ve got the personality to match—charming, affectionate, and oh-so-loyal. I came to the shelter on 04/19/2025 after my former owner, who had fallen on hard times and become homeless, could no longer care for me. It was a heartbreaking goodbye, but they made sure I’d be safe and find a new family who could give me the life I deserve. If you’re looking for the perfect best friend, I might just be your girl! I’m great with kids, dog-friendly, and even cat-friendly—yep, I get along with just about everyone. I’ve also got some fancy manners: I know how to sit, stay, shake, and lay down. Not to brag, but I’m basically a gentle giant with a brain and a big heart. I’m already spayed, up to date on all my shots, and tested negative for heartworms—healthy, happy, and ready to go! Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.
