My story

Chloe is a 9 pound female chihuahua mix from California, estimated to be 12 years old. Chloe is a well-traveled pup, journeying all the way from the West Coast in search of her forever home in the Big City. She's an affectionate social butterfly who adores people and gets along well with other dogs. Chloe is happiest when accompanying her foster, either nestled in her arms or in a purse or tote. She's a pro at traveling/commuting, preferring the train or bus but also great in a car. In addition to her travels, Chloe loves her hobbies too! She enjoys peaceful naps and occasionally purrs in her sleep. She can happily chew on her chicken chew stick for a while before digging around in her bed, wagging her tail as she hides it. As a well-rounded pup, she also loves walks in nice weather, taking her time to mosey about, sniff around and wag her tail. She can get a little turned around, but a gentle tap with the leash helps her locate you and find her way back. Although Chloe has partially impaired vision and hearing, this hasn't stopped her from exploring and being active. She adores being spoken to, especially the sound of her name, and loves gentle, slow pets. She responds well to gentle touches to wake her up or get her attention. Moving slowly and carefully is important for Chloe to avoid startling her, as her depth perception is limited. Her foster kindly reminds people to be slow and gentle, helping maintain her confidence when meeting people. Chloe has a keen sense of smell and hearing and never fails to find her food bowl at mealtimes. Sometimes her foster holds it near her nose and the yummy smells alone will wake her up from her nap. Or she'll tap the bowl with her nails and Chloe trots over happily. Her water and food bowl are kept near her bed, making them easy for her to locate at any time. Chloe loves her self-care routine that her foster lovingly maintains.  Everyday, she poses patiently for wipe downs and every few days she'll purr through her ear cleaning. When it's time to sleep, Chloe performs her signature circling and digging routine before nestling down before her foster tucks her under a tiny blanket. We would recommend Chloe go to a patient adopter as a solo dog or with other calm companions who will respect her favorite treats and her space. Her adopter will also need to continue filling her day with hobbies and activities, whether that’s outings to see the world, chew sticks or any other light activities. Chloe is an absolute angel and she can’t wait to meet you! Chloe's recent bloodwork showed elevated liver enzymes that should be rechecked about every six months for changes. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, bordetella, and Lepto. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To apply for Chloe, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2333998##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chloe, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
