My story

Kiesha came to the shelter on April 10th in rough shape—thin, dehydrated, and with some wounds—but even then, her gentle soul shone through. Now in foster care, she’s ready to make strides and is blossom into the affectionate, goofy girl we knew she could be! At the shelter, Kiesha truly opened up—she’s become a total sweetheart who loves following her people around and leaning in for snuggles anytime you sit down. She’s easy to handle and is a breeze going in and out of her kennel. Her loving, calm energy has made her a favorite with volunteers and staff alike! She knows “sit,” walks nicely on leash, and just wants to be near you. Kiesha did well meeting another dog and could be a great match for a calm canine companion. Due to some treat snatching, a home with kids over 10 is best. Kiesha Nolissa is looking for a kind and patient family to continue her healing journey, share in her snuggly personality, and give her the life of love she’s always deserved. 📍 Currently in foster care with ACCT Philly 📧 Interested in meeting her? Kiesha seems to have really opened up since arriving. I was so happy so see a little bit of her goofy side while eliciting pets. All she wanted was attention. She'd follow me around and come up to me for pets anytime I sat down. She took treats gently ande was so easy in and out of her kennel! I'm shocked this girl hasn't been scooped up. 04/27/2025 volunteer notes:: Just wanted to snuggle. Very sweet dog. Knew sit. 04/26/2025 staff notes: In light of recent notes (per volunteer, "If there's a level below Green, she's that"), changing to Green from Gold. 04/26/2025 volunteer notes:Gold? Green all day in my opinion. Sweetest pup of the day! 04/23/2025 volunteer notes: Kiesha is a beautiful, gentle girl who’s been waiting for her moment to shine. She’s currently marked as a “Gold” level dog, but she behaved as a “Green.” When we approached her kennel, she looked up with hopeful eyes and wagged her tail. Leashing her was a breeze – no fuss, no fear – just a sweet girl eager for some time outside. Before we even made it to the yard, Kiesha stopped and leaned in for cuddles. She soaked up every bit of affection! In the yard, Kiesha explored gently and happily, sniffing around and checking things out at her own pace. Every time we used a baby voice she lit up and trotted right over for more pets. She’s a lovebug through and through. We’ve heard Kiesha used to be shy and scared, but she’s coming out of her shell beautifully. She’s skinny and could use some good meals, warm beds, and lots of TLC. She’s so sweet and ready for a family to call her own. 04/20/2025 volunteer notes: So good and curious. Wanted to cuddle and eat. Should be green (not gold!). 04/18/2025 volunteer notes: Sweet, shy, nice walk. 04/16/2025 volunteer notes:Very affectionate. Shaking - gave her a sweater. 04/15/2025 volunteer notes: Very affectionate. Liked when I threw the ball. Absolutely loved to cuddle! 04/13/2025 volunteer notes: Shy initially, didn't want to go out. Once out, loved walking, affectionate, gentle. 04/13/2025 volunteer notes:S uper sweet, affectionate, shy at first. 04/12/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: KL was laying down on her bed with a neutral body and eyes. Once I opened the kennel door she began trembling but allowed me to easily secure her as she stayed put. Once secured she trotted right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally to moderately HANDLING: In the room, Keisha Nolisa was a super timid and nervous girl but was super curious. He jumped right into my lap when called, she allowed all handling and took a treat gently (despite her condition). Although she was tolerant of all handling she preferred her feet to not be held and would pull them away. She is a shy and submissive girl that loves cuddles and would love someone to give her all the kisses in the world as she will do the same. PLAY: Scared, cowered under the desk TOYS: Ran away when she heard it squeak with a tucked tail and began trembling. 04/11/2025 volunteer notes: Sweet and tolerant girl. 04/10/2025 finder noted KN to be "Shy, scared, quiet." MEDICAL: On 4/28, Kiesha was noted to have a persistent URI and was prescribed azithromycin. On 4/18, Kiesha was reweighed. She gained 2 lbs (a 7% increase in weight) and was cleared for adoption. On 4/14, Kiesha was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. She tested negative for pneumovirus. On 4/11, Kiesha received a vet check due to being underweight. She was very thin and muscle wasted, but otherwise appeared to be in good health besides some mild calculus and the tips of two teeth being fractured (with no pulp exposure). Bloodwork revealed mild monocytosis and basophilia. During a triage exam on 4/10, Kiesha was noted to have slight debris in her ears, but her eyes and nose were clean. Her gums were pink and moist and she had fractured upper canines. She had a wound on her left shoulder but her fur was clean. Staff noted, “Pt presents emaciated and slightly dehydrated. Pt is BAR, normal mentation. Admin 300 mL LRS SQ and 0.6 mL B12 injection SQ. Scheduled B12 injection once a week UFN and 1 tablet Drontal in 14 days. Set up on medical refeeding schedule. Bloodwork taken, diagnostics in files. Admin Vx and intake.” Upon intake on 4/10, Kiesha was noted to have a body condition score of 2, so she was placed on medical feedings to avoid refeeding syndrome. She weighed 27 pounds and was estimated to have an ideal weight of 40 pounds. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
