Meet Kesha Nolisa, a tender-hearted girl whose quiet resilience is hard to miss. Kesha is currently in need of a rescue partner who can help her heal, both physically and emotionally. She arrived at the shelter in very thin body condition and is being monitored for mild monocytosis and basophilia. But beneath her frailty lies a dog with a beautiful spirit, one that’s eager for gentle connection. In a quiet room, Kesha remained nervous, her body language cautious, but her curiosity was clear. Called over softly, she jumped right into her handler’s lap—seeking closeness in the safest way she knew. She allowed all-over handling and took treats with incredible gentleness. While she politely pulled her feet away when they were touched, she remained calm and sweet throughout, never showing anything but tolerance and vulnerability. It’s clear Kesha hasn’t known comfort or safety for some time, but it’s also clear how much she wants to feel safe and loved. She may need time, patience, and medical care—but what she gives in return is priceless. With the right rescue partner, she will flourish. Let’s help this sweet girl start the chapter she truly deserves. BEHAVIOR NOTES: 04/12/2025 Staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: KL was laying down on her bed with a neutral body and eyes. Once I opened the kennel door she began trembling but allowed me to easily secure her as she stayed put. Once secured she trotted right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally to moderately HANDLING : In the room, Keisha Nolisa was a super timid and nervous girl but was super curious. He jumped right into my lap when called, she allowed all handling and took a treat gently (despite her condition). Although she was tolerant of all handling she preferred her feet to not be held and would pull them away. She is a shy and submissive girl that loves cuddles and would love someone to give her all the kisses in the world as she will do the same. PLAY: Scared, cowered under the desk TOYS: Ran away when she heard it squeak with a tucked tail and began trembling MEDICAL 04/14/2025 | 12:37 pm Assessment This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold".
