Meet Patience – Your Sweet and Gentle Sidekick At just 10 months old and 32 lbs, Patience lives up to her name with a calm, thoughtful demeanor that’s rare for a pup her age. She's a gentle soul who prefers quiet companionship and warm encouragement over chaos and commotion. Patience walks well on leash with only mild pulling—she’s curious about the world and enjoys taking her time to sniff around, occasionally noticing wildlife but easily redirected. Car rides? No problem! She hops in with ease and settles down quickly, especially after her first ride. People intrigue her, though she might be a little cautious at first when someone reaches out to pet her. Give her a moment, and she’ll be nuzzling in for more. She’s treat-motivated, takes snacks gently, and already knows how to sit. Bath time was a breeze—she even hopped in herself with a little treat encouragement—and she loves being brushed. Patience hasn't had a single accident indoors and is learning quickly. While she occasionally jumps up when she's excited or seeking attention, a simple “off” does the trick—she really wants to please. If she gets startled or uncertain, she’ll quietly lean into her trusted person for reassurance. With her soft nature, trainable personality, and sweet heart, Patience is looking for someone to show her the world can be kind. If you're patient too, and ready for a loyal best friend, she might just be your perfect match. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
