Meet Snowy, a two-year-old, 9 lb. Chihuahua mix. Snowy’s name suits her perfectly—she’s gentle, delicate, and quietly beautiful, with a soft white coat and sweet marshmallow-tipped ears. While young, this tiny girl has already endured more than most, but her spirit remains unbroken. Snowy was first rescued from an overcrowded shelter in California. After arriving in Connecticut, she began to blossom in a loving foster home, slowly learning to trust and showing off her playful, affectionate side. She was adopted in May 2025, but tragically escaped her new home just minutes after arriving and was struck by a car two days later while lost and frightened. Her survival and recovery are nothing short of remarkable. Now safely back with her foster family, Snowy is steadily healing from a spinal fracture. She’s able to stand and walk on her own and continues to gain strength every day. Despite everything she’s been through, Snowy is incredibly loving. Once she feels safe, she enjoys cuddling close, giving kisses, and being near her people. She’s a true lap dog at heart and finds comfort in human companionship. Snowy is house trained, enjoys slow walks and sniffing adventures, and has a playful streak when she’s feeling at ease. Her perfect match is someone who can offer her not only safety and stability but also the love and time she needs to fully flourish. What Snowy Needs: - A quiet and patient home (women preferred; she’s much more comfortable with women but can build trust with patient men) - Another calm, confident dog to help her feel secure—she thrives in the company of other dogs - An adopter experienced with shy or fearful dogs who is open to doing multiple slow introductions. Special needs experience is also a plus due to her recent injury - A fully fenced yard and commitment to always keeping her leashed and securely supervised - A home where patience, consistency, and gentle routines are part of daily life Her adoption fee is $400 and Snowy is vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and spayed.
