My story

LexieJust by looking at me and spending time with me, you would say I am a sweet-natured, loveable orange tabby girl. The interviewer lady (IL) had fun getting to know me while I gave her head butts, rubbed my cheek against hers, and purred up a storm. And you would be right! I AM a very lovely lady cat. My sister Sadie and I were kitten littermates when we were adopted from IACS. Our owner says we were bosom buddies until we turned one year old. However, a mysterious incident led to a serious altercation, which left both of us with scratches on our faces. Although neither of us would explain the incident, we could not cohabitate peacefully after that. We are both 6-years-old now, and our owner surrendered us due to our behavior. I have always been sensitive to conflicts. Due to the stress of living in close proximity to Sadie, the occasional visits from the daughter`s dog, and being picked up when I didn`t want to be, I fell victim to litterbox avoidance (LBA). The veterinarian told my mom that this was stress-related and not due to a medical condition. It is true that when two or more cats feel threatened, they may use LBA to communicate their unhappiness. The HSHC staff believes that providing a room where I can be alone, with food, water, and a litterbox, will help me relax and take my time settling into a new home. It will take me longer than you might expect for me to learn to trust and feel comfortable in my new home. You might also notice that I am a bit on the chubby side. It will be beneficial to my health to lose some weight. As long as I don`t have to live with my sister, I think life will improve 100%! 4-30-25

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lexie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
