Hershey Gram

My story

Hershey Gram was found at the corner of Broad and York alongside another dog, both seemingly in distress. A quick-thinking Good Samaritan managed to safely leash both dogs after witnessing an altercation and brought them to the shelter. Since arriving, Hershey Gram has shown a big personality packed into her compact, energetic frame—she’s been social, affectionate, and very people-focused. In her time at ACCT, Hershey Gram has greeted handlers with tail wags and kisses, happily engaging with anyone nearby. She's high energy and full of love, jumping up to say hello and sharing gentle kisses with a wagging tail and soft eyes. She knows how to sit and accepts all-over handling, even leaning in when the pets stop. While she can bark and growl in the kennels when passing another dog, in real-world intros, she shows more appropriate social skills and has done well in playgroups—sniffing calmly, wagging her tail, and engaging with others. Hershey Gram may benefit from a structured home where she can continue practicing polite leash manners and enjoy outlets for her energy. Given her social nature and love of human attention, she may do well in a home with respectful children or with a family ready for a playful, affectionate companion. Easy to leash and pulled moderately through the kennels. Jumping up a lot on me and others passing by and giving kisses to hands and faces. When walking by another dog in the kennel she did bark/growl when I made the leash tight. Allowed all body handling, was soliciting more when I stopped. Lots more gentle kisses to the face and hands of the handler. No interest in toys or play. Dog meet with Sandy: She approached with ears back, tail middle wagging, sniffed gently and appropriately. Also told she did well in playgroup. Easy to return to the kennel. GOLD 04/17/2025 Did really well in Dog intake, very friendly and people oriented. Potentially dog reactive, saw another dog outside of intake and became defensive, tensed up, bared teeth. 04/17/2025 Per finder he found both dogs on corner of found location, one had the other by the foot they were fighting and then one started walking towards him and he was able to leash both dogs then transport them to shelter Medical Notes 04/17/2025 Weight: 50.6 lbs Body Condition Score: 4 - Lean Eyes: clear Ears: clean Nose: clear Mouth/Teeth/Gums: pink gums, moderate dental tartar, worn canine teeth Coat & Skin: shedding out undercoat, no fleas or hair loss noted Urogenital: female, intact, no tattoo seen Gait/Mobility: no lameness noted Attitude: BAR, high energy, social, soliciting affection. No restraint needed for vaccines or chip, highly food motivated.
