Meet Emmylou — the absolute picture of composure. No chaos here, folks. She’s not the kind of girl who sprints full-speed into your personal space like a fluffy torpedo of affection. Nope. Calm. Cool. Collected. Like a zen monk in a fur coat. Unless, of course, you have an available arm. Or leg. Or chest. Or any vaguely human surface she can press her face into like she’s trying to become one with your body. Because that’s her real happy place — smushed up against her person, melting hearts with her soft eyes and sweeter-than-syrup snuggles. She’s basically a living weighted blanket with emotional healing powers. So if you've been yearning for a companion who’s equal parts gentle soul and world-class cuddle contortionist, Emmylou’s got you covered — literally. EmmyLou is a stunning 12-week-old, 30lb Great Pyrenees mix who, for reasons only known to the universe, found herself in need of a home — along with her brother Cache. You know, because what’s better than one adorable puppy? Two. When it comes to her doggy social life, Emmylou is basically the Goldilocks of the canine world. She’s not the life of the party, but she’s also not hiding in the corner — nope, she’s just vibing somewhere in the middle, chatting with the right crowd, and showing up to play with anyone willing to engage. Other puppies? Sure, let’s play. Older dogs? Why not? She's got time. She’s an equal-opportunity friend. As for purrinators... well, she hasn’t had the pleasure of meeting one. Guess we’ll just have to assume she’s too busy being adorable to bother with them. Also, zero interest in chasing squirrels or small animals. Maybe she’s just too refined for such lowbrow pursuits. She’s fantastic with kids — tiny humans who, apparently, are her perfect audience for snuggles and playtime. As for new people? She’s somewhere between "I’ll be your best friend" and "I’ll just stand here and judge you silently." It’s the sweet spot. Perfect temperament, really — not too much, not too little. Just right... if you’re into a perfect balance of snuggles, play, and a touch of "I’ll give you my attention when I’m good and ready." Emmylou's energy level is like a sloth and a koala had a baby — both are technically awake, but neither is in any rush to do anything. Leash training? Oh, she's still figuring that one out. She’s pretty much wondering what that thing is attached to her and why it keeps getting pulled along. Now, if you're in the car with her, don't expect any wild antics. She's the ideal copilot, just gazing out the window like a very calm, very cool dog who's seen it all. Adventurer? Sure. Homebody? Absolutely. She's equally content to tag along for an outing or just hang out with you and chill. Calm, cool, collected, and a little reserved. Maybe even a touch of the side-eye if you’re not living up to her standards. Once she decides you're worthy of her divine presence, she’ll just want to bury her face in whatever body part of yours is closest — arm, leg, chest... it’s a free-for-all. Sweet? Yes. Gentle? Absolutely. She’s the kind of dog who could melt the coldest heart with a single snuggle. And water? Oh, Emmylou is a true water enthusiast... she will find her way into the pool area and walk around on the pool cover like it's her personal runway. We had to gently restrict access after her little aquatic adventures. But outside, she’s down to play with her doggie friends all day long, and don’t even get her started on toys and treats — it’s like Christmas every time one appears. As for her living situation, she’s perfectly fine without a yard. Whether in an apartment or a house without a fenced yard, she’s adaptable — just as long as there’s someone to love her and take her on walks. She’s the kind of dog who probably wouldn’t mind a fenced yard... but she also wouldn’t be too upset if you didn’t have one, as long as her human’s around for the good stuff. Emmylou is totally potty trained — no surprise there, she's got her act together in the bathroom department. As for the kennel, she's pretty chill about it. Emmylou may seem all dainty and reserved, but don’t let that fool you — her bark is like the voice of a tiny lion trapped in a very delicate body. It’s surprisingly big for a girl who’s otherwise pretty chill. She’ll bark when she feels it’s absolutely necessary, like when she’s certain something important is happening (even if it’s just a leaf rustling or a squirrel living its best life-hey we said important to her...not you ;) ). But don’t worry, it’s not like she’s trying to start a neighborhood podcast. Her commentary is pretty rare so far. Ready to add this bundle of joy to your life? Well, first, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app. It’s a thrilling process, really — and once we get that, we’ll send it straight to her foster family. After that, you can pick her up in Norman, OK, where she’ll be eagerly waiting to start her new adventure with you. Trust us, Emmylou’s got a place in your heart waiting for her. What are you waiting for? Let’s get this show on the road!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Emmylou, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
