My story

Larimar is a gentle soul with a sweet personality. She has been through a lot, including having puppies in a shelter and then raising them in our rescue, and we can’t wait to see her truly bloom once she has a home and a family of her own; we can sense that she will just keep growing more wonderful. A thing that her foster parents find particularly charming is how Larimar happily greets them with a big body wag and if she's really excited she will jump up in the air as if asking for a hug. Larimar is still easily unsettled by people and new or difficult situations but is not anxious in general and doesn’t have a problem with sounds and such. She loves to be outside and will stay out all day if given the option and a nice yard, so a home with a yard is preferred. She can climb chain link fences, and she does so paw over paw, so she needs a solid fence. She has only done so when being new to the foster home and wanting to get to one of her foster parents. Larimar accepts and respects other dogs but isn’t particularly interested in them and mostly stays by herself. She has, however, shown a slight interest lately in playing with one or two of the other dogs in her foster home. She only notices the cat when it walks by but doesn't interact. Larimar seems to feel similarly about kids. She is okay with the 9-year-old boy in the foster home but mostly ignores him. She is generally well-mannered but does get a bit bored when home alone and then gets into things and/or grabs food from the counter, so that needs to be managed. She is fully housetrained. She did fine on a leash the small amount of time she has been on one. She responds well to her name. She has not shown signs of resource guarding. Larimar is spayed. She is estimated to be around 2 ½ years old. She is of medium size. A DNA test was done on one of her puppies and showed Belgian Malinois, German shepherd, and Jindo but of course we don’t know the exactly what came from Larimar. If you're interested in Larimar, please fill out a pre-adoption application on https://linktr.ee/northernstardogrescue

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Larimar, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
