My story

Meet Onyx, a super friendly, sweet and playful boy. We believe Onyx is mixed with Russel Terrier, as he does have some of the traits and looks of that breed. Onyx has a moderately high energy level. He loves to run and play. He is always looking for something or someone to play with or keep him busy, so an ideal home would have plenty of chew toys and room to run around. He enjoys running around in the backyard and loves playing in the water. Onyx loves playing in the small pool that we have for him and he won`t hesitate to play in any water, if he has access to it. Onyx can be a bit shy at first, but once he gets to know you, he is a joy to be around. He loves to play with kids and other dogs. He will run around for hours, playing chase and play fighting with his temporary dog siblings. He loves to be around other dogs and people. He does not like to be alone or crated. He will bark if left inside of a crate too long. He would much rather be around the family or other pets. Onyx does scare easily to loud noises and sudden movements, although he has improved a lot from when we first brought him home to foster. He is slowly, but surely becoming more and more brave every day. He would benefit from lots of patience, love and understanding. He is a lap dog and loves to cuddle and give kisses. He is a very affectionate boy and loves to be picked up and carried around. Onyx knows the basic commands of sit and stay. He knows what no means and he knows what go outside means. He still needs some practice on staying, as sometimes it is hard for him to do. He takes treated nicely. He is mostly potty trained, but if he is made to wait too long before he can go outside, he will have accidents in the house. We are still working on potty training and commands. His favorite type of toys are stuffies and balls. He loves to carry around and play with his stuffies. He also loves to chase balls and play with chew ropes. He has a routine of going outside early in the morning, around 6:30 and then being fed breakfast right after. He will go out several times per day, probably a total of 6 times. Onyx usually eats dinner around 5-6pm and goes out for his last time around 9 or 10pm. Please keep in mind that Onyx is a curious little guy and will get into things if they are in reach. He requires a bit of mental stimulation and lots of play. Chew toys are a staple in his life and help to keep him busy. It is not advisable to leave him alo

If you have any questions or would like to adopt ONYX, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
