Aloha! My name is Nani, just like Lilo’s big sister! I’m a super sweet and affectionate girl who’s still learning how to be brave in this big, wide world. Just like Stitch when he first landed on Earth, everything feels a little scary and unfamiliar right now. But the kind “ohana” (that’s what the staff here are!) are helping me learn that it’s okay to take things one step at a time. When I’m outside, I turn into a total goofball! Rolling around in the grass and snuggling up to the staff is my favorite thing ever. I’m always trying to wiggle into their laps or flop over with my tummy up, hoping for some well-deserved belly rubs. I’m dreaming of finding my own quiet little “ohana”, a home where I can feel safe, loved, and slowly build up my confidence. Like Lilo says, “Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” I can’t wait to find mine!IN-SHELTER NOTES & IDEAL HOMESIZE:43 pounds and growingHOME TYPE:House with secure fenced yard - No apartments or shared entrances as she can be quite nervous.CHILDREN:Yes - Older children that have lived with a large dog in the past as she can be shy and timidCATS & SMALL ANIMALS:Yes- cats potentially compatible with slow proper introductionOTHER DOGS:Yes- Dogs potentially compatible with slow proper introductionACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL:High; will need a lot of daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation.HUMAN COMPATIBILTY:First time dog owner possibleTRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS:Three in-person training sessions required to work on socialization, basic training, manners (jumpy/mouthy), touch sensitivity, sound sensitivity, reactivity, and separation anxiety.HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER:She is very human social once comfortable with someone newFAVOURITE THINGS:Getting all the love from people she is comfortable with and rolling around in the grass.**For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets.
