My story

Meet Mayzee & Jayzee - a sweet duo found roaming the streets, sticking close to each other as they navigated the neighborhood together. Concerned for their safety, a kind neighbor brought them to the shelter to prevent them from being harmed. Now, they’re hoping to find a safe, loving home— possibly together. Mayzee (female) and Jayzee (male) are gentle, friendly, and affectionate dogs. They walk beautifully on leash, showing calm curiosity and trust. Both are playful and cuddly. Their bond is undeniable—they find comfort and confidence in each other, and we'd love to see them stay together. They may be a little dusty from their street adventures, but under that dirt is a pair of truly wonderful pups who are ready to love and be loved. We spent a lot of time outside together. She was super easy to leash and walk through to the yard. All she wanted to do was follow me around! She did not show an interest in toys, only pets! When I sat down, she came over for snuggles and loving. We sat snuggled for awhile and seemed to love it. When dogs walked by they definitely piqued her interest. She was just as easy putting her back in her kennel. 4/18/2025: volunteer notes: I was leaving the shelter when I noticed a green volunteer stopped near the treats with Mayzee. I asked the volunteer if she was okay and she asked for help. It seemed Mayzee had frozen and did not want to return to her kennel. As I approached Mayzee had soft eyes but her tail was down and she was stiff/frozen. I greeted her with some baby talk and got some small, low tail wags. I took the leash from the volunteer and gave a bit of leash pressure. I started to run and Mayzee ran with me. I stepped into the kennel and she followed. She went right to sit on her cot which was further back in the kennel. I stepped into to remove the leash which she allowed. She laid down on her cot and I closed the kennel door per day trip 4/17: Mayzee is an absolute love! She is so sweet and has lots of energy! The perfect adventure and running buddy! What stuck out to me about Mayzee is that she is loyal and loves to follow your lead even when she is a little nervous she will faithfully follow to be by your side. She has the most precious golden brown eyes and has the power to melt your heart when you look into them. I found she enjoys making eye contact and bowing her head for pets. Seriously what a sweetheart! She also loves her treats and can sit for one! She does great in a car and likes to feel the air rush by on her nose. Mayzee clearly has a ton of love to give if someone is willing to give her the chance! 04/16/2025 volunteer notes: Mayzee is such a sweet girl. When I took her out for a walk today she was so excited and jumpy! She calmed down after walking a little and was mostly interested in getting pets and giving kisses. She wanted to be snuggled up to me the whole time. She also took treats very gently and knew to sit very well. 04/16/2025 volunteer notes: She is the sweetest girl ever and just wanted to be loved on. She leaned in for pets and rested her head in my hands as I scratched her chin. No issues walking on leash. Also, she has the cutest ear freckles! 04/15/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Loose body language, playful, good gate greeting, steerable. Gave good correction to first male dog she met who was overly pushy. Once a new male (Scout) entered who was more playful she reciprocated. play bows and played chase. 04/15/2025 finder noted these two to be "friendly cuddly quiet playful, boy and girl bonded-roaming together" ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
