My story

Meet Rue – 1-Year-Old Pit Bull, Gentle Soul in Search of Peace Rue was found as a stray, and the world still feels like a pretty overwhelming place to her. She’s a very shy and shut-down girl who’s trying her best to understand that she’s finally safe. While she’s unsure of people at first, Rue is quietly observant and keeps a close eye on you, taking everything in. With a little encouragement, she bravely steps out of her kennel and walks well on leash—often glancing back at her handler for reassurance, like she’s asking, “Am I doing okay?” Sudden noises or fast movements startle her easily, so Rue is looking for a calm, peaceful home where she can truly exhale. Loud voices or chaotic environments aren’t a match for her sensitive nature. Older kids who understand how to move slowly and respect her space would be fine, but younger children would likely be too much for her right now. Other dogs seem to bring out the best in Rue—being around them gives her confidence and helps her relax. She’s also does just fine with cats. What Rue needs most is someone patient and gentle, who’s willing to let her decompress and bloom at her own pace, without pushing her before she’s ready.
