My story

Hi, I’m Mia—a total sweetheart with a big heart and even bigger cuddles to give. I’m one of those dogs who just wants to be wherever you are. If you’re chilling on the couch, I’m snuggled up next to you. If you’re heading out for a walk or a run, I’m your new workout buddy. I can be lazy or active—whatever you’re doing, I’m in.I love people. Like, really love them. I’ve met little kids and had a great time, and when I meet new adults, I’m always excited and curious. I’m what you’d call a “velcro dog”—where you go, I go. I’ve been through some tough times, so being close to my people makes me feel safe and happy.I’ve had a mix of experiences with other animals. I used to live with a small dog who was my best friend, and I lived with another dog for a few weeks and had a blast playing once we got to know each other—but slow introductions are a must for me. Sometimes when I see dogs on walks, I bark and pull a bit, but other times I just keep walking. Cats? I’ve barked at them and gotten excited, so I’d need a slow, careful intro there too.My favorite things? Treats, cuddles, belly rubs, and ripping up toys (it’s a hobby, really). I’m pretty good on a leash, and I even did great dining out on a patio with a temp foster—what can I say, I’ve got manners when I need them. I’ve also been told my belly flop cuddles and total lack of personal space are part of my charm. When my humans leave, I stay in a small room where I can’t get into trouble—that works best for me for now. I’m a smart, playful girl with a big heart and a love for fun. I wouldn’t say I’m fully crate trained yet, but I’m working on it—and I’m a quick learner, especially if there are treats involved! One of my favorite things to do is play fetch. I’m still perfecting the whole “drop the ball” part, but hey, we all need a hobby, right? I also love treat puzzles—figuring them out keeps my brain busy and my tail wagging.I’m looking for a family who’s patient, playful, and ready to keep me engaged. I’ve got lots of love to give and can’t wait to find someone who’ll enjoy training, playing, and growing with me. Want to be best friends? I’m ready when you are!I’m looking for a family who has time to hang out with me and include me in their day-to-day life. I’d love an active home, but I’m also totally happy to snooze the day away by your side. As long as I’m with you, I’m good.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
