My story

Hi, I’m Buckley—a tiny 8-pound Papillon mix. Since I was 7 weeks old, the person who had me kept me locked inside their apartment- never getting to explore the world, feel grass under my paws, or make any friends. I’m almost a year old now, and I’m just starting to learn what it means to be a dog—to run, to play, to be loved. It was a lonely beginning, but I’m so ready for a new chapter. At first, I was a little unsure of everything (can you blame me?), but with patience, love, and understanding I’ve come out of my shell. I’ve discovered how much I love being close to other dogs and love being close people—curling up in a warm lap, getting gentle pets, and just being near someone who makes me feel safe. I’m still learning the ropes and I’m pad trained for now, but I’m eager to keep growing and adjusting with someone kind by my side. All I’ve ever wanted is a soft place to land and a heart that sees me for who I am: a survivor with so much love to give. If you have room in your heart and home for a cuddly and incredibly sweet little guy, I’ll be right here—waiting to finally belong. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources.
