My story

Meet Apollo – A Gentle Giant in Need of a Break Apollo is a 3-year-old Great Dane mix who was heartbreakingly surrendered by his family through no fault of his own. Their young son became seriously ill, and they made the painful decision to find Apollo a better-suited home. Since arriving at the shelter, Apollo has been having a very tough time. The stress of kennel life is wearing on him—he’s visibly anxious, losing weight, and just not himself in this environment. If you come to visit, please don’t judge him by his kennel behavior—he’s just overwhelmed and over it. Once outside, his sweet and playful personality shines through. Apollo is a big boy with an even bigger heart. He absolutely loves toys and treats, and while he doesn’t quite realize how large he is, he means well in everything he does. He’ll need a strong, confident owner who can help guide him with basic training and consistency. With a little structure, he’ll be a loyal and fun companion. He’s done great with other dogs, is fine with cats, and has been around kids—just keep in mind his size and strength. Apollo is desperately hoping for a loving home where he can decompress, play, and feel safe again. Please share Apollo’s story and help end his stressful kennel days.
