My story

Our handsome man Marley has come so far since his arrival, and we couldn't be more proud. ❤️‍🩹 3-year-old Marley came to us from a rough situation: his previous home housed NINE other dogs, all of which he had to fight just to get a scrap of food. 😓 When he came to us in early March, he was completely shut down, shy, and dejected, having never known a life where he received treats of his very own or pets from a loving hand. He was also diagnosed as heartworm positive, making his situation all the more sadder. Now, after a couple months of settling in, beginning treatment, and learning that the world is a kinder place than he ever could've imagined, Marley is blooming! 🥹 His loving and playful side has been shining through, and he especially loves to dote on our volunteers and staff members whenever he gets a moment. Giving kisses is this sweet boy's speciality. 🥰 Marley is also completely housebroken! He thoroughly enjoys taking walks around our property and does very well on a leash; though with his heartworm treatment in process, his activity will be more restricted until he's medically clear. Due to Marley's rough and unfair history with other dogs, it is best for him to be the only animal in his future household, as he still believes other pets may try to steal his food and he has to defend it. 😓 He's still a little timid when meeting new people, but once he has a moment to be around you and learn that you mean well, his hugs and kisses are infinite. He also enjoys leaning into you for comfort. ❤️ Understanding how life works outside of his past situation has been understandably intimidating to Marley, so a person who empathizes with him and gives him patience, love, and nurturing as he becomes the confident dog he's meant to be would be his dream come true. 🥹 Marley's heartworm treatment would continue to be provided for by us until he is officially heartworm negative, so he is ready to go to his forever home on a foster-to-adopt basis! If you feel that you're the one to show Marley how compassionate and beautiful the world truly is and should be, fill out an application or stop by our Canine Clubhouse to meet him -- he would love to start his life anew with you. 💌

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Marley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
