My story

Say hello to Zebra, the ruling Queen of Kitty City!Zebra is a three year old female cat who also happens to be the longest resident at our shelter`s `Kitty City`. This regal lady has assumed her position as queen quite gracefully, ruling with a gentle but strong presence from the top of the cat tree in her free roam room.Zebra has shown us her independent nature from the start of her journey in our care. She has always been a cat who has acted on her own terms. Simply put, this lady is the one issuing decrees, not following them. Brought to our shelter from a hoarding situation, Zebra is used to ruling over cats more than humans and can be quite sensitive to new two-legged subjects. While she doesn`t mind sharing her castle with humans, she is not the kind of cat who will be constantly ordering you to pet and play with her. A self-sufficient queen, Zebra can play and groom herself. What she really needs from her forever person is a safe space where she doesn`t feel pressured to conform to the lap cat stereotype. Zebra is looking for a subject (or two) who can respect her position of power and follow her lead. So long as her subjects can honor her need for time and space to adjust to her new castle, she may feel so inclined as to reward them with a gentle headbutt in due time. While she`s still acclimating to her position you can expect this girl to be quietly keeping to herself, sneakily learning the lay of the land, and occasionally swatting a toy across the floor.Zebra would rule best in a quiet, low-traffic castle, free from loud noises and frequent disturbances. Her ideal castle would be one with plenty of warm sunspots and cozy areas to curl up in as well as enough room to chase some toys around. While having 100 cat subjects to rule over was a bit much for Zebra, we don`t think she`d be averse to a couple of cat companions in her forever home. At our shelter currently she is co-habitating with a few friends and doesn`t seem to mind them one bit. However, we still recommend slow introductions between Zebra and any potential feline family members, in order to ensure they feel safe and comfortable adjusting to each other`s presence. Are you searching for the purrfect cat queen to rule your castle? Stop by the Humane Society of Summit County today and meet Zebra!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zebra, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
