My story

How Lola arrived: Lola was brought in by her previous owner on 4/6/25. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Lola - a beautiful and complex girl who's looking for a home that understands her unique needs and big heart.Lola came into our care due to conflict with another dog in the home. She has a history of dog reactivity and resource guarding, and due to this, she must be the only dog in the household. While she has shown curiosity around other dogs, she can be territorial and has a bite history during a dog-dog altercation (the responsible dog is unknown). Because of this, she's not a candidate for dog parks or off-leash areas. If you're interested in exploring future relationships with other dogs, working closely with a professional trainer will be key.With people, Lola has a lot of love to give. She's been social and affectionate with staff. However, she can show elevated arousal and anxiety, especially in new situations or on outings, so she'll need a family committed to ongoing positive-reinforcement training and emotional support. A behavior consultation is required and can be scheduled before or after adoption to help everyone start off strong.Lola lived with small children in her previous home and was reportedly good with them, though she could be protective around strangers. Adopters with children will be considered on a case-by-case basis.She has no known experience with cats.Lola is a dog who thrives when she feels safe and understood.
