You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Meet Brutus, a big boy with a joyful, playful personality. He is a goofy guy who lights up when he sees his favorite people. He loves his toys, belly rubs, cuddles, and a good brushing. Grooming is a breeze, as he loves being washed and pampered, including having his fur dried with a hairdryer. Brutus is housebroken and leash-trained and enjoys rides in the car, and he will be a perfect companion for the right family. He also has his basic commands down, including “stay,” “sit,” “down,” “paw,” “heal” “go back,” and “no.” He will do best in a home that is quiet, perhaps with someone who works at home. He is nervous around small children and reactive with most other dogs, so will need a home as a solo dog and with people who are old enough to understand he needs a safe space and boundaries. He warms up nicely to visitors in the home with proper introductions, approaching them with curiosity and enthusiasm. He is food-motivated, and not a digger or a big barker. Brutus enjoys spending time both indoors and outside - he would love a 6-foot fenced yard. He has a silly personality that will shine through with the right family and keep you laughing at his antics. - Written by M.M. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. April 10, 2025, 6:55 pm
