My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, May 3rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $600 Meet Crockpot – Your Loyal, Low-Riding Ride-or-Die   Crockpot isn’t just a dog—he’s the dog. A 5 year old Basenji x Corgi mix with a personality bigger than his 17-pound body, Crockpot is looking for a one-person fan club (or maybe a small, respectful one) where he can be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your most trusted sidekick. With his long, low body and alert little ears, he looks like a cartoon come to life—and he’s just as expressive.   Crockpot is a master of loyalty. He bonds deeply with his people and loves nothing more than being by your side, whether you're watching a movie, working from home, or heading out for a neighborhood stroll. He’s not one for chaos or crowds—this guy’s more “cozy corner pub” than “noisy family brunch.” If you’re a senior, single adult, or homebody looking for a steady companion who’s calm, smart, and affectionate, Crockpot may be your perfect match.   He’s fully housetrained, knows “sit” and “stay,” and is impressively intelligent—this boy loves to learn. He thrives on routine and structure and would be a great candidate for continued training or fun enrichment games. Crockpot doesn’t need to be entertained with a toy box full of plushies—he really just wants your time, your trust, and maybe a few treats. Bonus points if you enjoy quiet evenings and long chats with your dog, because he is all ears.   Crockpot would prefer to be the king of his castle. He’d love to be the only dog in your life and will reward your devotion tenfold. He can be a little wary of new hands reaching for him too quickly, so older teens and adults are the best fit for his royal court. With the right match, though? He’s a cuddle champion, a faithful nap buddy, and a gentle paw-on-your-leg type of guy who just wants to remind you he’s there.   If you're ready to skip the chaos and go straight to the good part—loyalty, love, and low-maintenance companionship—Crockpot is ready to simmer into your life. He's the kind of dog who doesn't just live in your house—he lives in your heart.   Come meet Crockpot, and prepare to be claimed by your new best friend.May 4, 2025, 5:21 am
