Tortilla Chip

My story

Sweet Tortilla Chip is a special lady who needs a human who can provide her love and take care of her. This gentle lady was not around humans for most of her life, and as a result she can be extremely shy, and takes time to warm up to new humans. Once she does, she is a gentle lass who is sweet and learns quickly. She does well when her humans are away and will hang out quietly in the house. She also gives good eye contact, with expressive eyes, eyebrows and brow wrinkles. She is starting to come out of her shell in her foster home, and is making good progress. Tortilla is a retired mama who was very dedicated to her pups, and is getting along well with dogs in her foster home. She does prefer to be around very calm pups, or might prefer to be the solo dog in the house. She would also thrive in a low-traffic home with calm older kids. She is working on her house training, and if taken out three times a day, she will quickly take care of business and walk around the yard. She would love a fairly quiet home that has a backyard where she can learn to stay calm in the yard. Once her foster allowed her time to adjust, Tortilla touched her nose to her foster's hand and gave little kisses. She enjoys getting gentle petting. She gives good eye contact and responds when she is talked to. She walks well on a leash, but gets anxious with new surroundings. She is on anxiety medicine to help curb her fears, and she just loves her medication in peanut butter! Given time, patience, and gentle people, she will snuggle someday. She responds well to praise and is food motivated. And she's learning what new words mean, such as "kisses" and "outside". If you have a low-key, patient and loving home with a backyard, come meet this sweet and gentle spirit. Her expressive eyes will make you melt.
