My story

Bert’s got that soft, silky coat you’ll want to run your fingers through all day long. This bashful little guy takes his time warming up to humans. Once he’s settled in your arms or curled up in your lap, though? Oh, he soaks up every ounce of lovin’ like the sweetheart he is. He’s a dog’s dog — Bert absolutely adores playing and hanging out with his furry friends. And while he’s pretty quiet, but does have a rare raspy little bark. Now, here’s the thing about Bert — he’s a little shy and not exactly a fan of human treats or food. Don’t try to bribe him with snacks; he’ll just give you a cautious “really?” side-eye and quietly step back. It takes time for him to trust, but once he does, he’s all in. On the bright side, Bert is super tidy, always keeping his kennel clean and neat because, well, manners matter — even for the shyest of pups. Bert is a pup who’s waiting for someone patient and understanding to see past the shyness and discover the playful, loving dog underneath. If you’re ready to give Bert the calm, caring home he deserves — and maybe earn that quiet, raspy bark of approval — then Bert might just be your perfect new best friend. Ready to meet Bert? Reach out today and start a new chapter with this mini Aussie who’s got sass, spunk, and a heart waiting to love. Fine Print: All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Adoption fee for a dog over 3 years of age is $300 + Mn tax., pup/dog1 year to 3 years is $400 + Mn tax. Under 1 year of age $500 + Mn tax. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Dogs can be met in Ada, MN weekday and weekends, or in our alternate office location in Maple Grove, MN on weekends only. Once we receive your submission, our application review team will be in touch with you. Please have patience while they look over your application.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bert, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
