My story

Meet Lark, a gentle 7-month-old soul with a heart as soft as her snuggles. Weighing in at just 28 pounds, this sweet pup may be small in size, but she has a world of love to give to the right person. Lark is a little shy at first and may take some time to feel safe in new surroundings. But once she warms up, she blossoms into a quiet cuddle companion who will happily curl up on the couch beside you and drift off into a peaceful, snore-filled nap. Her calm, low-key nature is rare for her age—while she has moments of playful energy, she’s far from the typical high-strung puppy. This lovely girl is excellent on leash, walking calmly by your side with zero pulling, making her a joy to take on quiet strolls. She's also treat motivated, which makes building trust and training a smoother, rewarding experience. What she needs most is a patient, loving home where she can continue to build her confidence and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Lark has shown signs of separation anxiety and will do best in a home with a flexible schedule and someone who can be present as she learns to feel safe on her own. With time, support, and love, she has so much potential to grow into a secure and trusting companion. She’s done well with older children (8+), especially those who are gentle and respectful of her space, but the fast movements and unpredictability of toddlers may startle her. Lark thrives in a calm, stable environment where she can relax, feel loved, and move at her own pace. There’s something truly special about this girl—her soulful eyes seem to tell a thousand stories, and her gentle spirit leaves a lasting impression. Lark is looking for someone to see her, truly see her, and give her the world she deserves. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a quiet, loving companion who just wants to feel safe and loved, Lark is waiting for you. Lark would likely pair best with a calm, confident canine companion. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lark, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
