Name: Nora Best Guess for Breed: German shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of April 2025 Gender: female Approximate Weight: 79lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids yet. Currently Living At: DC area foster home. Nora is Looking For: Nora nursed and raised 11 beautiful puppies (Nicolas, Natalia, Ned, Nadine, Nevelle, Newman, Natasha, Norbert, Nico, Nessie and Nash) and is now ready for her forever home! Through no fault of her own, this sweetie ended up in the shelter. She's eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for long sniffy walks and romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up. What do you say? Is she the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: Nora is the most mild mannered dog I've ever seen! So gentle, so quiet, so calm. Walks fantastic on a leash, great in the crate, and a pleasure to walk. She can frighten easily and she needs to be treated very gently as she gets to know you. Nora is timid at first, but she really opens up and loves to be right by her human’s side when she gets more comfortable. She is the sweetest girl, and enjoys lounging around the house most of the day. She loves a good walk and a little jog as well. She is friendly (but pretty shy) to all the dogs and people we meet. Medical: Nora was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. Nora has completed the treatment and exercise restriction phase, and is awaiting her six month follow up test. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
