My story

Meet Howie, the 6-month-old pit bull mix with a heart of gold! This handsome boy is short and stocky with a soft, beautiful tan coat and light tabby spots. His striking grey eyes will melt your heart, and his calm demeanor is beyond his years. Howie came from a high-kill shelter, but you would never know it—he’s absolutely thriving in his new life and ready to bring endless love to a lucky family. Howie is all about cuddles! He loves everyone he meets, regardless of age, and he’s especially great with kids, even those as young as 2 years old. He’s super gentle, calm, and never pushes or jumps—though be prepared, if you sit down, Howie will be right on your lap, eager for attention and affection. He loves getting scratches, kisses, and cuddles. While Howie is typically calm, being the playful puppy he is, he gets little bursts of energy and is ready to run and play, especially before the sun goes down. He gets along with every dog he meets and is very respectful, waiting for older dogs to show that they’re ready to play. He’s great on a leash, loves bath time (which we think means he’s going to love swimming!), and is generally a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. Howie would be an ideal fit for any family that loves cuddles and is ready to give him plenty of attention. He’s very well-mannered and easygoing, but like most pups, he doesn’t love being left alone for long periods. Howie is also doing well with his training—he knows "sit" and is working on "paw." He’s crate trained, though he’s not a huge fan, he handles it just fine.
