My story

Meet Dorothea — a gentle, sweet-natured pup with a heart of gold and a spirit that just needs a little time to shine. This lovely girl is a bit timid at first, but give her a few quiet hours and you’ll start to see her tail wag, her eyes soften, and her sweet personality come to life. Dorothea loves the company of other animals and lights up when she sees fellow pups — a home with another confident dog would be ideal to help her feel secure. She even tried to befriend the cat in her foster home with a playful bow (though the cat wasn’t impressed!). She’s incredibly gentle, especially with kids, and would do best in a calm household or one with children who understand she may need some space and patience as she builds trust. Dorothea is a road trip pro and rides quietly in the car (preferring to curl up on the floorboard). While leash walking is still a work in progress, she’s eager to learn and just needs someone who can go at her pace. This sweet girl has clearly been through a lot, but with love, patience, and understanding, she’s sure to blossom into the loyal, affectionate companion she was always meant to be.
