Carmen IS AVAILALBE (updated 09-17-2025).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Carmen, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22835&name=CarmenCarmen is a 10 month old German Shepherd puppy. She is a big girl and will most likely be over 85 pounds by the time she finishes growing. She was with her canine parents and siblings for the first 8 months of her life and then moved into a foster home with three new dog siblings and two cats. She loves all of the dogs and the cats, particularly Cosmo, the orange tabby cat. They are the best of friends. They lie on the dog bed together and even sleep in Carmen's crate together. Cosmo acts like Carmen't 'support cat'.Carmen's fosters have been socializing her with people. She is very shy around new people but is slowing opening up. She is very gentle and will now accept treats from new people who come to her home.Carmen is learning to walk on a leash and goes for regular walks with her pack. She is a sweet and gentle girl but does have a big scary bark which comes in handy for coyotes and solicitors. Carmen is healthy and received all of her puppy vaccinations and a microchip. She will need someone who has a German Shepherd background and shy dog experience. She needs to go to a home that has one or more confident dogs in it for her successfully fit into her new environment. Having a cat would be a plus! Once she she is comfortable with her new surroundings, Carmen will be a sweet and gentle - and large - companion. One final thing. Carmen loves, loves, loves her crate. It is her safe space and she will need one. She may 'steal' towels, stuffed animals, and blankets to make it comfortable for her. If you have a cat that is willing to share it with her, then that would be great. (Cosmo the cat does not come with Carmen). The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.September 17, 2025, 8:36 am
