My story

The wisdom of nature is astounding, and pinecones do some pretty cool things to protect the seeds held inside. They close their scales to protect the seeds from cold temperatures, wind and even animals that might try to eat them. But when the weather warms up and it’s easier for seeds to germinate, this is when they open up and release their seeds at just the right time! We have a little pup named Pinecone who reminds us a lot of his plant namesake! A noisy shelter full of dogs is a pretty inhospitable place for a sensitive, shy pup like Pinecone, but at the right time, with some warmth and patience, we believe that he will open right up and share his seeds of love with a furever family! Here`s what one of Pinecone’s volunteer friends said:“Pinecone looked a little nervous when I approached his kennel so I offered treats, which he ate. I was able to leash him from easily. Once in the park, I stopped at a picnic table and he took treats from my hand. We walked over to a play yard, where he explored the fence line and and looked out. He checked in periodically and I gave him a treat each time he came over. He saw several dogs and was interested but showed no reactivity. Overall Pinecone seems shy, but he warmed up considerably during our short time together and he loves treats, so I think he has a lot of potential with a little time and patience.”Pinecone has shared his kennel with a variety of other PACC pups and has been independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He would likely benefit from a confident, friendly doggy buddy to help him learn the ropes in a new home and he would like to meet any resident dogs to ensure a good match. Many good things in life take time to develop- trusting friendships, sourdough bread, fine wine... If you’ve got a place in your heart and your home for a sweet, sensitive pup to settle in and open up, come meet Pinecone today!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt PINECONE*, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
