My story

Quick Facts Name: Heukmi  Age: 1.5 year old (born October 2023)  Gender: Female  Neutered/Spayed: Scheduled April 2025  Breed: Terrier Mix  Color: Black  Weight: 10kg   ♣All About MeHi, I’m Heukmi! I’m a spunky little terrier mix, born around October 2023, with a sleek black coat and a curious heart. I weigh about 10kg (22lbs) and still have a lot of puppy energy in me! I came into the shelter system as just a tiny baby—only about a month old—when I was found wandering with no mom in sight. My best buddy Heukimja and I stuck together, and we were rescued just in time from the euthanasia list at the Miryang city shelter. Now I’m safe, and I’m ready to find the family I was meant for.   My PersonalityI’m playful, curious, and always up for affection! I love people, even if I’ve never met them before—I’ll happily come up for pets and lean in for snuggles. I can be a bit of a goofball, but I’m also sweet as can be. You can pick me up and carry me, no problem! I’m still learning about the world, so sometimes I get overwhelmed by new experiences, but I bounce back quickly with a little reassurance.   Social SkillsI love meeting other dogs and usually want to say hello to everyone. I can sometimes get a little protective over my food if another dog comes too close while I’m eating, so it’s best to give me some space at mealtime. I’ve spent a lot of time glued to Heukimja, my rescue sibling, and while I adore having dog friends, I’d also do great in a home where I can learn to stand on my own four paws. I haven’t met any cats yet, but I’m open-minded!   Energy and ActivitiesI’ve got that classic puppy energy—I play hard and nap even harder. I’m still young and full of wiggles, so I do best when I get enough playtime and outdoor fun. I’m currently learning how to walk on a leash, and while I’m still building confidence, I’m trying my best! When I get scared of a new sound or sudden movement, I might pancake to the ground, but with patience and support, I’ll grow braver every day.   Training and HabitsI’m a smart cookie and eager to please. I use both pee pads and go potty outside, depending on the situation. I’m still working on some basics, like leash walking and feeling confident when I’m alone, but I respond well to gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. I do sometimes bark to let you know I need something—whether that’s food, love, or a play session—but it’s all part of my puppy charm.   My Ideal HomeI’d love a home that understands my playful, energetic nature and is ready to help me continue growing into the amazing dog I’m meant to be. A family that can give me structure, attention, and affection would be perfect. If there’s another friendly dog in the home, even better—as long as they’re cool with a little pup energy!
