Sweet Pea

My story

Meet Sweet Pea, a 4-year-old mixed breed with a gentle heart and a playful spirit. She was rescued from Puerto Rico along with her mom and 8 siblings—all of whom have since found loving homes. Sweet Pea has had a taste of home life herself but was returned to Big Dog Ranch due to her separation anxiety and escape-artist tendencies. Because of this, she would thrive with an adopter who is home most of the time and has experience managing dogs with similar behaviors. Sweet Pea is full of energy and joy—she loves to play, splash in the water, snuggle up for cuddles, and go on walks. She's great with other dogs, cats, and children, making her a wonderful fit for a loving, structured home environment. She’s housetrained, walks well on a leash, and knows her basic commands, but her shy and timid nature means she’ll need time to adjust and build trust. Due to her history of escaping and her flight risk tendencies, a secure yard and extra vigilance are essential. But with patience, consistency, and a watchful eye, Sweet Pea has the potential to blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion.
