My story

This cute boy is a little on the chunky side and after spending time with him I soon understood why. He’s a little beggar and will sit in anticipation of a treat even before any have been offered. It was difficult taking pictures of him standing because he would sit looking longingly up at me licking his lips. Doc is a three year-old 48 pound mostly lab retriever with some Staffordshire terrier in the mix. He arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/1 as a stray. He’s got a cute face with alluring hazel eyes and a tail that wags constantly. He’s got a sweet easy-going personality. He’s curious and explored the yard looking out the gate. But after that preferred to spend most of his time chilling out with me. He does like to stay close. He’s alert, sweet, happy, well behaved, and energetic (not overly so). He doesn’t jump on you. He does sit for treats and takes them gently. He walks OK on a leash. He did his business in the yard. He wagged his tail meeting many dogs in the bay. However, when one barked at him he wasn’t happy. We suggest if you have another dog to ask the shelter for a dog test. With summer coming up he said it’s too hot outside and he wants to be inside under the air conditioning. Then in the winter he wants to snuggle up and stay warm next to you on the couch.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Doc, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
