Thelma

My story

Thelma is a female Hound type mix (our best guess). She is approximately four years old, and currently weighs about 57 lbs. She was brought to our shelter on 3/2/25 after being found in unincorporated Hayward. She hasn't been reclaimed by her previous person, so she's now looking for a new home! She seems to be more of a medium-energy pup. She enjoys going for walks and playing with toys in the play yard, but also enjoys just hanging out and soaking up attention from her human friends. She walks nicely on leash, and seems to know some basic skills, such as "sit." Her volunteer friends describe her as affectionate and "irresistibly sweet!" Thelma can be a little unsure about smaller kids, but if you're a grown-up or a teen, then we're sure you'd be friends! She may be open to living with another dog. If you already have another pup at home, we'll have you bring them to meet her prior to an adoption. Thelma may have a higher prey drive. Before she came to the shelter, she got into some trouble for chasing chickens. Because of this, as a precaution, we are looking for a home for her without small pets. She has been vaccinated, and will be spayed and micro-chipped before going to her new home. Her adoption fee is $35, plus licensing (if applicable). Her spay surgery will be sponsored!
