My story

This little guy may be small in size, but he’s got a big heart and an even bigger personality! Barney is a 2-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua mix who was found as a stray and is now on the hunt for his perfect forever home.Barney can be a little grumpy at first—but give him a minute and he’ll become your devoted shadow. He forms strong bonds quickly and just wants to be by your side (or under the covers, keeping your feet warm and safe). He does best with someone who’s home a lot, as he can get a little anxious when left alone. So if you’re a homebody, Barney just might be your perfect match.He’s fully house-trained, an expert doggy-door user, and sleeps through the night—often tucking himself in like a pro. He loves his foster dog siblings and is a big fan of chew toys.If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who’ll make you laugh and love you fiercely, Barney’s your guy!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it.
