If your dreams about your future dog include images of y’all driving off into the sunset towards an adventure-filled happily ever after, this is the dog in your dream. Her name is Callie and if you get the door, she will load-up, a no questions asked yes girl. Errands or adventure, she is down to be by your side. The best part is that she is good company no matter where you are, in the car she is chill and at home she is playful but self-entertaining when you need to get some work done. Take a look, fall in love, then come back to read more about Callie! https://youtu.be/jO0-4NFxLP0?si=1C2cenZoGjMAEaBm When you spend time with Callie it is easy to sense the balance between play and chill she has. When you see her play it would be easy to think she is on the older end of the puppy spectrum but so many of her other qualities show maturity. Callie is estimated to be just shy of 3 years old according to our vet team, of course it is an educated estimate, not a guarantee but either way that explains the puppy like playfulness and mature mannerisms. Weighing in at 55 lbs, she is petite perfection! We love to call these types Fun-Size! Just like age, we cannot be sure given she is a rescue but we can see pittie features with lab playfulness. A Texas special always has a little Chihuahua mixed in there too so you are getting a true one-of-a-kind with Callie. Callie has been fortunate and is waiting for adoption day getting home-life experience in a foster home along with the routine fun of regular doggie day care visits. Having a foster home is something we like to share because it plays such an important part in being house-trained and understanding the rhythm of a home. All reports from her foster family have been positive. They shared that she has been an all around great house guest! Living with kids, cats, another dog similar in size to her, and of course a few adults. She did need a tour of the appropriate potty places on her first day with them but was a quick learner with no accidents after the tour. We would say she is house trained given she is consistent in her foster home though a tour of her approved potty places and a few reminders should be expected once she arrives home. She has been praised as being such a good car-rider by multiple people- volunteers, staff, her foster, and friends of her foster who have done daycare pick-up/drop-off for her. If you watched her video you saw, she is a peaceful passenger princess. She loves to soak in the sights but it doesn’t take long before she curls up into a cute little ball for a nice little nap. At home she can typically be found with a pile of her favorite toys playing happily alone or snoozing away somewhere. She does love playing with other dogs but she does not need a playmate in the home. Callie is driven by attention and love from her people and is content enough with your company making her a great candidate as an only-dog. If matchmaking her for the role of playmate to an existing dog in the home, her ideal “type” is playful and aloof with a balance of rest and play. Basically, a dog with a goofy approach to play who knows the value of taking long, lazy breaks. Once Callie hops out after one of those beloved car rides, no matter where you are, she is ready to impress with her leash skills. She understands that walking close is key and pulling isn’t welcome. She may get distracted in a moment where her social-butterfly kicks in but she is easy to redirect and keep moving if needed. Our kennel techs say their favorite thing about Callie is how fast of a learner she is! This will be great for mastering future tricks. If you have the time though, she will love getting to say hi to a new friend for a few pets and some sweet talk. An ideal home for Callie would include occasional adventures, a hike or day-trip or simple errands, along with occasional leisure walks around the neighborhood. A yard is always fun but with chances to play and walk, it isn’t a necessity for Callie. Her size, quiet nature, and awesome leash skills make her a great candidate for apartment/condo life. A playful easy-going friend would be awesome but is not needed. She would be a great fit for single or family life and if you have kids be prepared to see them build the sweetest friendship ever! If you have a cat, Callie is cat-tolerant but her playful curiosity best suits a dog-savvy cat that can give her a clear boundary if they are not interested in playing with her. She will try to get the cat to play and in her foster home one cat enjoyed it while the other didn’t. We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
