My story

Hello friends!! My name is TAZ and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Terrier/Lab mix  Age: approx. 1 year Gender: Male Weight: 40 lbs  Current Location: Texas RESCUE STORY - I was born at the County Roads Rescue facility just one day after my mother was rescued from an abandoned home that was scheduled to be bulldozed. There were 8 pups in my litter; all my 7 brothers and sisters have been adopted, but for whatever reason, I have been passed by for adoption for over a year now. Think you have room in your home for me? I am so deserving of my forever home after waiting for so long!  TEMPERAMENT - I am a sweet, intelligent boy! I have been moved into a foster home because I'm quite fearful of a lot of things right now, so my foster mama is helping me get more confident in life. I'm pretty shy, but once I get comfortable my foster mama says I'm a super funny boy with a killer personality! I am an active fella who loves outdoor activities and play sessions. I have had some exposure to agility course training here at the rescue and I have loved getting to challenge my brain and body! I'm very treat motivated (a big win when it comes to training!) and very smart. I would love an active family who will take me on outdoor adventures and/or would like to try out some obedience or agility training with me! I promise, once my brain and body are sufficiently exercised, I'm a cuddly pup who enjoys affection and snuggles. So if you're an active hooman who also enjoys some couch cuddles, I'm your guy!!  ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I have an energetic and playful side and really thrive when my mind and body are properly exercised. I would thrive with a good balance of exercise time and snooze time. I bet I'm perfectly suited to hiking and adventuring in the Pacific Northwest, followed by some cuddles and naps on the couch. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yup! Check out my video. I am shy at first but have proven to be very gentle and sweet with my foster mom's kiddos.   as with ALL dogs, I should always be supervised around children and I need to have my space respected. It's important to remember I am a rescue pup with minimal training, so I may play nip or bounce/jump up on people (including children!) Dogs – Medium/Large dogs, yup! There's lots of doggos at the shelter and we get along just fine. Check out my video of me playing with a shelter friend. I have great body language and play style. NOTE: I am not great with small dogs - I show some prey drive. Cats – No thank you! PREY DRIVE - Moderate. I have shown prey drive with small dogs and cats. Safe to assume I'll react similarly to squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours. TRAINING: Leash skills – I do pretty well on a slip leash (video) but would love an adopter who is willing to continue working with me on my leash skills.  Crate trained - Work in progress. There may be an adjustment period when I go to my new home, but with proper use, the crate can be my safe space :) House trained – Work in progress. Living in a shelter environment my whole life, I haven't had the 1-on-1 training needed to get me officially "house trained", however I do try to do my business outside whenever I can. I'm sure with frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement in my new home, I'll catch on quickly! Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.  I have tested negative for heartworm after treatment. I will be tested for distemper and parvo before travelling (although I've been vaccinated for both!) NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00, including applicable taxes ($750.00 CAD + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes my ground transport to Edmonds, Washington. My adopter needs to be willing to drive to Edmonds, Washington to pick me up! :)  ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##2349750##
