Because he’s a black dog with a “Staffy look”—two things that unfairly work against even the best dogs. But in person? He’s a total heart-stealer. Sweet, affectionate, and always ready to give kisses. At just 1 year old and 27 lbs, Finnegan is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. He loves people, enjoys attention, and would likely be happiest as your one-and-only pup. He’s healthy, vaccinated, and recently neutered—ready to go home today. He deserves a chance. ****************************** ABOUT SHELTER STRESS Dogs who have lived in shelters for a long period develop behaviors due to an environment that is loud, chaotic, and stressful, even in the best shelters in the US. Dogs in shelters have limited socialization exposure to people and urban environments. DoVE dogs also come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper human-dog connection.
