RIVER

My story

River is a soulful, high-energy pup with a heart full of love and legs made for long walks—he’s happiest trotting beside you on leash (he’s a pro at loose leash walking!) or splashing in any body of water he can find. Balls? His absolute obsession.River thrives with calm, adult dogs after slow, proper introductions. He lives peacefully with a couple of canine buddies now, including a mature female staffy mix and a goofy puppy—he loves the company, especially on long walks. While he’s great about sharing food and treats during training, toys can bring out his intensity, and he’s still learning how to play with other dogs rather than near them. He means well and responds quickly to redirection.River wants to do the right thing. His struggles (like mild separation anxiety or reacting to unfamiliar sights and sounds) come from a deep fear that his needs won’t be met. With patience, structure, and someone who understands his breed`s drive, River makes incredible progress—though it won’t always be linear. He thrives with a routine that includes exercise, enrichment, and gentle structure.River is not a fan of barriers (baby gates, crates, doors), and while he can coexist with cats under strict supervision, he shouldn’t be left alone with them. He’s more of a “dog’s dog” and would do best in a cat-free home with someone experienced, active, and patient.If you`re looking for a loyal, driven companion and have the time and heart to invest in River’s journey, you’ll find in him a goofy, loving, and endlessly rewarding best friend. ??
