My story

Hello! My name is Copo! I came to RASKC as a stray and now I`m looking for a new home. I`m a simple boy with simple desires - food, scratches, and lots of love. I have a pretty laid back personality and don`t seem to get too flustered about much. When I first came to the shelter I was dealing with some pretty intense skin issues but that never got me down! I am happy and outgoing, always ready for my next meal or adventure. I weigh 63lbs and am considered a medium to large size dog.I have been known to resource guard, meaning that I am displaying behavior that is intended to convince other dogs or humans to stay away from a particular treasure or `resource.` The resource that I tend to guard is high value food, such as bones or special treats. I would prefer to be left alone when enjoying my food and edible chew items. My caregivers have observed that I seem to not do well with other dogs. I am a spirited dog with a fun-loving personality! I am still working on my manners, so I would do best with a family who is willing to work with me and help me become the best dog I can be!Your new pet received a basic physical exam, in addition to routine vaccines, deworming, and topical flea preventative, if indicated. Although your new pet is ready for adoption, there is always a possibility of additional medical conditions that have not been detected or may develop in the future. Current medical conditions are noted below.1) Dermatitis/pyoderma - Copo has significant dermatitis/pyoderma (infected skin) throughout his body, chin, legs, lower back, abdomen, inguinal region, etc. He was also found with fleas. He has been treated for fleas and antibiotics for infected skin. His skin has improved but not fully resolved. He was also started on apoquel, an allergy medication, to help with allergies and associated itchiness/pruritus. Please monitor his skin. 2) Otitis externa - Copo has bilateral ear infections. This has been treated with a topical ear medication, animax. Both ears have improved but there is still a mild infection in both ears, worse slightly in the right. Please continue the ear medications and cleaning his ears at home. Please monitor for any excessive scratching or head shaking.Additional care for these conditions may be needed after adoption. Please follow up with your regular veterinarian.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt COPO, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
