My story

*PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * There is something so special about rescuing a mommy dog We saved mama Isla from San Bernardino shelter a couple months ago after she came in with dozens of other dogs that were part of a hoarding situation. At 8 years old, she was heavily pregnant along with several other dogs, and labeled “aggressive”. She was the only mommy dog that still needed help when we reached out, and we knew better then to believe a label like that on a pregnant dog who was just dumped in the most stressful place on earth. We knew she would thrive with us. Fast forward a couple months, the transformation has been night and day. Her babies are ready to get adopted, and Isla is about to be spayed and hoping to find a furever home soon, too. Her foster had this to say about her, and I don’t think we could’ve said it any better if we tried… “From the moment I met Isla, I knew she was special. She came to me scared and unsure of the world—no name, no idea how to walk on a leash, no concept of a bed, and heartbreakingly thin. But even then, I saw a spark in her. She’s blossomed into the sweetest, most affectionate girl who loves her walks, sunbathing, giving kisses, and enjoying every bite of her food like it’s the best thing she’s ever tasted. She’s not only incredibly smart and eager to learn (she knows sit, stay, and come!), but she’s also been a devoted mama—always putting her puppies first with endless love and care. Watching her grow into the dog she was always meant to be has been one of the greatest joys. Isla has given me so much love, and now she’s almost ready to give that love to her forever family. I can’t wait for someone else to fall in love with her the way I have.” Isla is one special little girl and we know a family just as amazing as she is is out there for her! If you are interested in adopting this little angel, head to the link in our bio to complete an application! 📍Isla is currently being fostered in Woodland Hills, California, but can be anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home. We don’t ship any of our dogs *PLEASE NOTE: Isla is being fostered in Woodland Hills and her adoption fee is 400. The first step is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org *

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Isla, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
