My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 14th from 12-3pm if not adopted beforehand. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered. Adoption Fee: $650 Breed: Lab mix Age: 4-5 months old Sex: Female Meet Mozzarella Sticks – gooey on the inside, golden on the outside, and 100% lovable. Mozzarella Sticks, or “Mozz” for short, is a 4–5 month old Lab mix pup who was rescued from a shelter and has been soaking up the good life in foster care ever since. She’s grown so much in confidence, playfulness, and love—and she’s ready to melt her way into your heart. Personality & Home Life Mozzarella Sticks started off shy and unsure, but with a little time, she’s blossomed into a joyful, curious, and affectionate pup. She follows her foster sibling (a small, playful Jack Russell mix) around like a shadow and has become his biggest fan and sidekick. They wrestle, zoom, groom, and nap together—it’s a full-blown puppy friendship. She’s sweet and snuggly, especially in the mornings when she wakes you with kisses and tail wags. She’ll happily curl up in her crate at night, but she’s also learning to enjoy cuddles on the couch and loves being close to her people. She’s especially gentle and affectionate with kids—even happily snoozing on the couch while being pet by a young child. Mozz actually seems to gravitate toward children more than adults! Training & Routine Mozz is doing great with potty pads and is learning to do her business outside on walks. She currently goes out about three times a day and gets plenty of praise and treats when she gets it right. She’s also crate-trained and finds comfort in her cozy spot when she needs a break or bedtime. She’s picking up basic commands like “sit,” “paw,” and “stay,” and is learning how to walk on a leash—though she still pulls, especially when she sees ducks or squirrels (they’re fascinating!). Her foster family is working on redirecting her energy and helping her settle into a walking routine. Puppy Quirks & Needs Like most pups her age, Mozz is teething and loves to chew—furniture, blinds, shoes, you name it. She needs plenty of chew toys and continued redirection as she learns what’s OK to gnaw on. She can also be a bit mouthy with hands and clothing during play, but she’s making steady progress. She has a touch of sass and takes a little time to trust new people or dogs, but once she’s comfortable, she’s a playful, affectionate, and incredibly loyal companion. She has a funny little crooked smile that perfectly sums her up—adorable, unique, and full of personality. Ideal Home Mozzarella Sticks would thrive in a home with: A confident, playful dog sibling (not required, but she loves having a buddy) Patient humans who will give her the time and structure she needs to blossom Kids? Yes! She’s gentle and sweet with children A yard for zoomies or plenty of daily walks and mental stimulation She’d love a family that will keep up her training, offer lots of enrichment, and understand that the best dogs sometimes take a little time to warm up—but are so worth it. Why You’ll Love Her Mozzarella Sticks is full of charm, brains, and heart. She’s a fast learner, a devoted sidekick, and an all-around lovable goofball. Whether she’s playing tug-of-war (and hilariously losing to her smaller foster brother), racing around with zoomies, or curling up for kisses, she’s guaranteed to bring joy to any home. Ready to meet your new best friend? Mozzarella Sticks is waiting to stick by your side.    June 2, 2025, 10:56 pm
