Gold is a gorgeous lab mix packed into the perfect compact body. He’s an independent gentleman who likes his own space, but he’ll happily greet you after crate time with joyful hops and spins! He’s a little “Eeyore dog” who quietly roams about, observing his world and being a calm, silent companion. Give him a cozy bed or blanket, and he’ll be your quiet shadow while you go about your day. Gold is all about chill mode when you’re nearby. He’s happy to give you space when needed—cooking dinner? He’ll hang out quietly, observing without getting in the way. Working on your laptop? Set down his comfy bed and he’ll be your calm little cheerleader while you knock out your to-do list. He also loves lounging in the backyard when the weather is nice. Gold views his crate as his personal space and won’t have accidents or destroy bedding inside. That said, he’s a bit of a crate Houdini and needs a proper heavy-duty crate to feel secure. Once inside, he settles within a reasonable time. He does have some FOMO and may whine or bark if he hears activity in the house while crated, but he usually calms down quickly when monitored on camera, especially when things quiet down. Gold is a potty-training king! He’s also very polite about asking to go out—he’ll quietly sit by the door and gently paw when he needs a break (no barking or whining), so his adopter will just need to be attentive. Once shown the potty spot, he’ll take care of business right away on cue “Go Potty”. Gold is a quiet observer. He’s great on leash and not easily distracted by his surroundings. He prefers calm environments and is content to hang out as long as you bring along a bed for him to nap on. Gold is an excellent car companion! He rides calmly and appreciates a comfy bed but will happily settle into a seat as well. Gold does well with dogs his size and age. He enjoys some playtime but mostly prefers to chill. He does best being fed and given treats separately to maintain boundaries. In public, he’s pretty uninterested in other dogs and takes new introductions casually. Even with neighbor dogs barking through the fence, he rarely shows much interest in engaging. He hasn’t been around cats in our care. However, he doesn’t show prey drive toward birds, squirrels, or small dogs, which is a great sign! Gold absolutely vibes with kids! He has done well with children ages 1–9 and has a gentle, patient nature. He isn’t easily startled, so he handles the quick, unpredictable movements of little ones very well. Gold isn’t very food-motivated, but he’s eager to please and enjoys being near his people. He’s learning “sit” and “kennel”—progress is slow since he’s not treat-driven and really dislikes the kennel—but he’s improving! He has excellent recall in the yard, comes when whistled for, and goes potty on command. He responds to his name, “Gold,” as well as nicknames “Oro” and “Bubbs.” Fun fact: while he’s stunning in person, he’s camera shy—his signature look is a solemn, side-eyed face, like he’s avoiding the paparazzi (he WILL KNOW when you pull out your phone for a photo). But behind that serious expression, he’s truly a sweet, gorgeous, and loving boy!
