She’s very timid, shy, and often doesn’t like to receive pets. She loves to play andrun with other dogs and will even fetch sometimes. Once she gets to know you, you’ll see hervocal, happy, and playful self emerge. This mom of six is looking for a forever home that willrespect her boundaries and give her lots of love as she becomes the best dog she can be.Nori and her babies came to Minnesota from a Missouri shelter in March. Since arriving, we’velearned that little kids are too overwhelming for her, she’s very playful, and she likes to be nearhumans, but not too close. Elinore would love a home with a fenced yard and a dog around hersize to play with. She runs, chases, and taunts other dogs, but doesn’t wrestle. She’d probably befine in a home with bigger kids, especially if they can be calm and patient with her. A confidentdog in the home might also help her come out of her shell. She’s been somewhat protective ofher food bowl but otherwise interacts with our senior dog beautifully. She’s never shown teeth, growled, or threatened to bite a human, even when she’s clearly uncomfortable.Elinore likes having a crate. She’ll just hang out in there with the door wide open because that’swhere she feels safe. If she gets overwhelmed, she’ll go in her crate for a bit before venturing outagain. During her first few days with us she had a number of accidents. Now that she’s gottenmore comfortable with us and isn’t afraid to do her business on leash, the accidents have becomefewer and far between. A fenced yard and freedom to do her business privately would likelyreduce or eliminate her accidents, especially in her first days at a new home. We crated her whenshe was home alone for a few weeks, but now trust her to roam the house. She also is terrified ofgoing upstairs at bedtime, so we’ve been letting her sleep in her crate downstairs by herself. Sheseems not to mind and stays in there even with the door open. This girl is a complete menace to dog toys. She thoroughly enjoys performing “squeeker-ectomies” and spreading stuffing around the living room. She loves to run at the dog park andwill sometimes fetch a ball, but it usually doesn’t hold her attention for too long. She hasn’t triedto destroy shoes but has chewed a little on some wooden furniture. We think she was trying toget attention and tell us she needs to potty by doing so, and she stopped right away after a “no.”Nori knows both “Elinore” and “Nori” as her name. We’ve taught her “sit” and “lay down.”“Come” has been a bit trickier as she doesn’t like to get too close to humans. She does usuallycome running to you at the door if you grab her leash. She also understands “no” and will usuallystop what she’s doing and look at the human. It took well over a week for her to consistently taketreats from a hand, but we’ve had a few guests over and after only an hour she’ll take treats fromsome of them. She doesn’t ask for pets often, but if you are able to pet her, she has a very softcoat and the fluffiest ears. As she’s gotten more comfortable, her husky chattiness has started tocome out, which can be loud and adorable. She gets excited at seeing her leash, watching ahuman put shoes on, and someone reaching for the treat bag.Elinore is a sweet girl who just needs some time and love as she comes out of her shell. She’sfairly food motivated, loves to play, and is friendly to all the dogs she’s met so far. She’s abeautiful, if somewhat small, husky. With patience and mutual respect, she’ll thrive. Her ice blueeyes seem to ask, “can I trust you?”If you have previously applied with us please email placement@midwestanimalrescue.org to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. or *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process. *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //
