My story

Meet Thalia, a 2-year-old mixed breed whose name means "blossoming" and "flourishing," and that’s exactly what we’re helping her do. Thalia was found curled up on someone’s porch, in poor condition—her skin was in terrible shape, and she was very thin. Despite the tough start she’s had in life, Thalia has shown nothing but resilience and strength. Since arriving at our shelter, we’ve learned that Thalia is heartworm positive, and she’s getting ready to start her treatment injections. While this may be a challenge, we’re committed to giving her all the care she needs to recover and thrive. In the meantime, our staff is also working diligently to get her skin under control, ensuring she gets the proper treatment and TLC she deserves. Thalia is still a little shy with other dogs, preferring to curl up with her human friends for comfort and security. But we’re slowly helping her get exposed to new dog pals so she can learn to build her confidence. As she blossoms and flourishes, we’re excited to see her grow and become more comfortable with canine companionship. Unfortunately, we have no background information on Thalia’s experience with cats or children, but we’re happy to provide resources for slow and structured introductions to both. Thalia is a true survivor, and with the right love and care, we know she’ll continue to flourish into the beautiful, confident dog she’s meant to be.
