My story

When 2-year-old Thalia first arrived at Five Acres in early March, she was in incredibly rough shape -- not only was she malnourished, shivering, and her skin in awful condition, but she was also diagnosed as heartworm positive. 😓💔 She had a long road to recovery ahead of her; and now, just over three months later, Thalia is doing wonderfully and taking her heartworm treatments like a champ! 🏆 Thalia is the epitome of resilience and joy -- despite everything she's gone through, this sweetheart shows everybody nothing but love and happiness. She's thrilled just to spend time with you, whether it means cuddling up close or taking a romp around the yard. (And yes, she loves to show off her fashionable outfits -- they also help protect her skin as it finishes healing up! 🥰) Her foster mama reported that Thalia "enjoys sitting in the sunshine and rolling in the grass, as well as chasing squirrels and zooming around the yard at 90mph!" 😆 A fenced yard for Thalia to continue goofing off and exerting her energy in would be a dream come true for her. Her foster also said that Thalia walks well on a leash, is housebroken, and has been well-received by everyone who meets her -- "she behaves perfectly." She especially adores sitting by windows and gazing outside for hours on end (it's the simple things in life, after all). No matter what, Thalia's big grin and warm eyes seem to grow brighter with each passing day, as well as her excitement at meeting her own loving humans; and we can't wait for that day to finally arrive for her! 🐾 Thalia can be a little more timid when meeting other dogs at first, and may need a little extra patience and time to warm up to them. 🐶 She has yet to meet any cats, and we're happy to provide guidance on introducing the two in the household. This playful and snuggly gal is fully prepared to take on life's adventures with her long-awaited humans on a foster-to-adopt basis, where her adoption will be finalized once she's officially heartworm negative from the treatments we provide!
