My story

Hellooo West Coast friends! My name is DUCKSOO and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed:  Spaniel/Cattle Dog/Jindo mix (best guess, I'm a supermutt, what can I say!) Age:  2.5 years  Gender: Male Weight: 16 lbs (7.25 kg)  Height: 31 cm (paws to top of my head) Current Location: S. KOREA  RESCUE STORY - I was rescued from Gongju City Animal Shelter just one day before I was scheduled for euthanasia. Despite my difficult past, my rescuers say I have shown incredible resilience and warmth. While in foster care, I have completed socialization training and learned to trust humans again. I am pleased to report that I'm now a well-adjusted and affectionate doggo, ready to find my forever home! Are you the loving fam who will give me the care and happiness I truly deserve? TEMPERAMENT - I am a sweet boy with a gentle and friendly temperament. I can be shy at first but warms up pretty quickly. I am a pretty agreeable guy who gets along with both dogs and cats! I love other dogs, but I can be a bit tense around larger ones at first (although I haven't ever shown signs of being aggressive or defensive around dogs). I would love to live in a home with either a cat or a dogg-o who's similar in size to me.  I may show some mild separation anxiety in the beginning as I adjust, but once I'm all settled in, I learn to wait calmly for my humans to return to me. I can be sensitive to loud noises; things like thunder, fireworks, and other loud sounds can make me nervous (who can blame me?). I'd love an adopter who would help desensitize me to these things and to help me build up my courage. Did I mention that I loooove food? Even though it's my favourite, I haven't shown any resource guarding tendencies over my food. I also love love love walkies and outdoor time! I think I would love the West Coast lifestyle with all the trails and outdoor adventures! I should add.... I'm a bit of a prince and don't love heavy rain. I may even refuse to go outside on rainy days, sorry not sorry! Maybe a nice rain jacket and some extra treats on the walk will help get me out into the downpour.  Overall, my rescuers say I am a well-balanced, affectionate, and adaptable pup! I'm the perfect combo of cuddle buddy and outdoor adventure companion. Think I sound like a good fit for you and your family? Please apply to adopt me! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium – I love some good exercise and play time! After I've been sufficienty exercised, I am happy to chill and relax with my humans. Same with all doggos, I need an appropriate amount of mental and physical exercise in order to be my best self! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes! Check out my video! NOTE: same with ALL dogs, I should be supervised around children. My humans need to advocate for my space and make sure I'm respected :)  Dogs – Yes! I can be a bit tense around dogs who are larger than me, so I'm looking for adopters who will help me with slow introductions to new doggies. Once I'm comfortable, I'm happy to chase and play (video).   Cats – Yes! Check out my video - I'm a perfect gentleman. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Pretty good! I pull slightly on leash at the beginning but I adjust pretty well to my walkers pace. I like a brisk walk but will settle into a calmer rhythm as the walk progresses. Check out my leash walkin' skills in this video. A well-fitted collar or harness and some dedicated leash training will continue to set me up for success! House trained – Work in progress. I prefer outdoor potty breaks (currently go out 3+ times a day), but I use pee pads when alone at home. With frequent bathroom breaks and lots of positive reinforcement, I'm sure I'll pick up the proper housetraining habits once I'm in my forever home! Crate trained – Not yet. I will need some training and patience with this.  Grooming - Pretty good! I enjoy baths and tolerate tooth brushing (as long as the toothpaste tastes good, hehe!) I am fine with ear cleaning and hair brushing too! I can be slightly nervous during nail trims, but this is manageable with patience (and lots of treats!) I'm even a really good, patient boy at the vet (video) Car Rides - I find car rides a little bit scary, but I don't experience any motion sickness. I am a good boy despite being a bit nervous (check out my video). With more exposure and lots of positive reinforcement (and perhaps a crate in the car), I hope I can learn to love the car! Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered (Oct 2023), vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I am on monthly Heartworm and Flea/Tick prevention and will be re-tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.  ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750 + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##2337273##
